Can We Pass the Dark Triad Test?
EPISODE 27: A potentially indicting Share & Tell, with Katie and Dan.
So, I’m a bit worried about today’s episode.
Because on this Share & Tell, with Katie Nolan — making her league-leading 5th appearance! — and Dan Le Batard (boooooo), we discuss…
Did the people who cloned their dying dog make a good decision?
Why do we keep discovering burner account scandals?
Are we malignant narcissists?
And I feel like that last question deserves a bit more clarification, here.
This is the full quote from that Atlantic article, by Arthur C. Brooks, about the “Dark Triad” type of malignant narcissists which spawned the topic:
The term was coined by the psychologists Delroy Paulhus and Kevin Williams in 2002 for people with three salient personality characteristics: narcissism, Machiavellianism, and a measurable level of psychopathy. These people confuse and hurt you, because they act in a way that doesn’t seem to make sense. As one scholar aptly described the ones whose behavior shades more obviously into psychopathy, these are “social predators who charm, manipulate, and ruthlessly plow their way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered expectations, and empty wallets.”
And, as it turns out, there is a test to find out if you are one of these people. And one in every 14 people, per an international population sample, qualify.
So we all took it. And shared our results with each other.
And you, dear listener/viewer, can, too:
The whole thing will probably take you about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Unless you, like me, end up staring off into the middle distance, pondering existence.
Enjoy.
Selflessly,
Pablo
