Chuck Klosterman Isn't Even Here Right Now
EPISODE 335: Writing.
Back in 2015, Chuck Klosterman — a man I’d been reading and listening to for years, primarily on Bill Simmons’ podcast — made plans to get high with me and go to the New York Aquarium.
A few years before, I’d seen him follow Malcolm Gladwell at Gelf Magazine’s Varsity Letters speaker series, in Brooklyn.
The topic, I vividly remember, was the future of football.
Gladwell thought it was doomed. Klosterman fully disagreed.
Anyway: Chuck and I never went to the aquarium.
He moved away from New York, to Portland, and I never wound up meeting him, in person, at all.
But 11 years later, in the PTFO studio, we finally got to catch up.
YOUTUBE SPOILER ALERT:
It was an orca,
Pablo
