Sometime in the next several weeks, I’ll do something appropriate — like host a Zoom call/livestream/something fun for subscribers here — to answer any and all questions about the news last week, over on Bloomberg, about our extremely exciting partnership (!!!!) with The Athletic and The New York Times Company:
The deal hasn’t started yet; it’s slated to officially begin on September 3rd.
But to be clear, in the meantime: PTFO will be made in the same way, from the same studio, with my same crew at Meadowlark. (Thank you, Dan Le Batard, for continuing to support journalism/our expenses!) We retain our editorial freedom. And the show — as a pod and YouTube channel — will not be paywalled. As I recently explained to reporters Ben Smith and Max Tani over at Semafor:
As for what’s new… the reasons I’m so thrilled about this partnership, our new colleagues, and what this should allow us to accomplish are legion.
I think you’ll find out that our best is ahead of us. (And it’s not particularly close.)
As a show of good faith, though, for anyone who wonders whether PTFO will also continue to unapologetically fuck around — we bring you this week’s Share & Tell, with my old friends Katie Nolan and Michael Cruz Kayne.
It’s about an evening we all spent together.
Ostensibly.
YOUTUBE SPOILER ALERT:
Hamburger,
Pablo
