I first found out about Michelle Wie — now Michelle Wie West — back when she was the most famous kid in sports, golfing in Hawaii, more than 20 years ago now.

And I always presumed that I knew her story. Maybe you, like a lot of America, did too.

Because the bottom line was simple: Michelle Wie was a female professional athlete who actually did what so many people proclaimed — and still proclaim! — to be impossible: compete against adult men.

But the craziest part is that Michelle did this… as a child.

But only recently did I realize how valuable Michelle’s specific perspective is, today, as a 34-year-old. And it’s not just because she has watched, and personally shaped, the evolution of women’s sports.
