So typically, when this show talks about dirt, it tends to be a figure of speech. As in: paydirt. Or information someone actively doesn’t want us to find out about.
But this is an episode that is also about actual soil.
In fact, the whole reason we’re partnering here with writer Garrett Morrison — who’s from an independent golf outlet called Fried Egg — is to bring you original reporting. Not because I love the singular inaccessibility of golf, and its unaffordable country clubs, but because of the opposite. As best exemplified by a story that goes to the highest levels of American government.

It should also be noted that East Potomac Park is slowly sinking into the Potomac River and is extremely prone to flooding. It's also immediately across the river from DCA (the park was used for the plane crash investigation last winter) which means the roar of jet engines every few minutes during a backswing.
It's an incredibly bad place to build a luxury golf course if it was just empty land.
