Steve Ballmer, Dennis Wong, and "The Smoking Gun"

EPISODE 276: Financial disclosures.

It’s been funny to be accused of being a Lakers operative in the course of our investigation into the Los Angeles Clippers.

But I should confess that I do possess a couple very personal sympathies — and the Lakers, of course, aren’t one of them.

As is extensively, and unfortunately, documented: I went to Harvard. I am Asian-American. I love basketball. (I used to care about the Knicks and now I care about the Sixers.)

Meaning: of all the journalists working today, I’m not the one who set out to expose an Asian-American Harvard graduate working in the NBA.

And yet this one might be the most revealing character in this whole story.
