So if you have zero idea who Lina Khan is — or what any of this has to do with sports, which we’ll get to — you should know something very important:
There is an almost inspiringly bipartisan coalition of people who hate Lina Khan’s guts.
This roster of critics includes Elon Musk and, yes, Republican senator Mike Lee, as well as Republican congressman Darrell Issa. But it also includes billionaires Mark Cuban and Reid Hoffman and Barry Diller — all noted Democrats.
Which leaves Lina Khan, the youngest (former) chair of the Federal Trade Commission in U.S. history, with a conspicuous and unlikely defender:
Steve Bannon.
The ideological steward of the MAGA movement. An avowed enemy of Silicon Valley. And also the guy who loves to call her “one of the more important political figures in this country.”
But Lina Khan — who has the endorsement of Bernie Sanders and was appointed by Joe Biden — is something more: a wildly endangered species.
And maybe the actual last best hope for the Democratic Party.
YOUTUBE SPOILER ALERT:
Snottily,
