I love local news.

And one of my favorite dimensions of this episode — Part 12 (!) of our endless series about the Los Angeles Clippers, Kawhi Leonard, and the NBA’s reportedly expanding investigation into salary-cap circumvention — is our months-long collaboration with the fearless investigative journalists at WPRI.

WPRI, in case you didn’t know, is an award-winning TV station in the state of Rhode Island: the smallest state in the union.

And a state that is grappling — like so much of the United States — with a profound, deepening crisis in affordable housing.

Which may seem to you, now, like a very strange place for this investigation to go.
