We Won Some Stuff
An evening with the Podcast Academy.
When Dan Le Batard asked me in 2023 if I wanted to leave my full-time job at ESPN and start a podcast, I said yes.
And that I also wanted to hire people and build our own version of a newsroom.
I did not have the following Variety write-up on my vision board:
ESPN veteran Pablo Torre was dubbed podcaster of the year for Meadowlark Media’s “Pablo Torre Finds Out” at the awards administered by The Podcast Academy.
“Pablo Torre Finds Out” also got the nod for best sports podcast.
The field of nominees was full of human professionals with meticulously high standards who specialize in something I am prone to go on and on about, even as we are strategizing around our YouTube channel: audio-first storytelling.
It was a true honor for our strange show to be recognized among these people.
