If you don’t know the PTFO house position on external validation, please allow me to reiterate it:
If you interview enough of the winningest and richest and most awarded people in the world — athletes, billionaires, entertainers — you very quickly realize how unhappy so many of them are.
But at the same time, there is a caveat. Because:
Awards are good for business.
And business implies money.
And money — to quote Homer’s brain — can be exchanged for goods and services.
Another, better way to put all of this:
Best-of lists are stupid unless you’re on them.
Well:
All time is a long time. So this honor is especially gratifying for our team at Dan Le Batard’s Meadowlark Media to receive, less than two years after we launched.
But for the record: we also don’t co-sign everything this list or even our review says, most especially about our “Greek chorus.” (How fucking dare you.)
Still, pretty cool.
Also: PTFO is hopping in and out of a dark week here and there — the last gasps of our only real vacation — as we produce and investigate a few big (and totally new) stories. We’ll bring you some of our own best-of episodes, in exchange.
I am also trying to be better about giving our (exhausted) team a break.
In the meantime, though…
Thank you so much for paid-subscribing.
Thank you for telling your friends to do the same.
Thank you for helping provide us with goods and services.
A lot, lot more to come.
And soon.
Sincerely,
Pablo
Well done Pablo!
You’re doing Uncle Tony & the PTI granddads proud, and I hope you continue to hold the entitled to account with your persistence and sense for a good & important story that needs telling.
(You’re like a cross between the best attributes of Jon Bois and a Justice League superhero imho!)
As for the review, I’m pretty certain that Eliana Dockterman doesn’t understand the narrative purpose of a Greek chorus, as that is one handisted attempt to appear erudite while saying … something?
Your supporting podcast partners should take a page from our greatest 🇨🇦 PM ever, Pierre Trudeau (RIP), re Nixon(!) calling him an asshole in 1971:
“My only response was that I had been called worse things by better people.”
Well earned!
