When we last had Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe in the PTFO studio, they were already an unparalleled power couple in American sports. We’re talking four WNBA titles, two NCAA championships, six Olympic gold medals, two World Cups, a Golden Boot, and a Golden Ball.
After this summer, Sue has added a Hall of Fame induction; a street; a bronze statue; and, yes, a butter statue. (Which we’ll discuss.)
She’s also a minority owner of the Seattle Storm and now the first-ever managing director of the USA women’s national basketball team.
And then… this happened:
More people than ever are paying attention to the business of women’s sports.
More people than ever are also paying attention to the WNBA: whose players, quietly, have been up to something I didn’t fully appreciate until Megan — who, uh, knows her way around an equal pay debate — and Sue explained it to me.
Also: strap-ons.
YOUTUBE SPOILER ALERT:
Nailed it,
